The object of the game is to keep the cards going in numbered order (A,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,J,Q,K, – repeat). A numbered card that is black cannot replace the same numbered card in red. However, if the number 7 card is black, you can follow it with the number 8 card in red. As you play, several bonus feature cards will appear, such as the tiki and volcano. The tiki is basically a wild card that replaces any number regardless of color. The volcano card will win you a bonus by activating three cards to follow the one you put down. Other bonus cards include the shark hook, Peek-A-Boo, Magic Eye and Flower Blossom, all of which activate their own special features.
The game starts with a practice round that walks you through the rules of the game by pointing to the card you should click on next. The faster you learn, the faster those cheat-arrows go away. Wild cards will appear at random, play them right and the game will level up much faster than normal. Some bonuses act as wild cards while others simply give you cheats.
Each time players level up, they earn points, which is what allows the, to flip over new cards and “cash in” for prizes. Each time Solitaire TriPeaks reaches a new level the game gets harder and requires much more concentration. Players can be involved with this game for days due to the game containing over 600 levels, but it never gets old.
The relaxing, tropical design of the game provides an easy going feel while the game itself promotes a challenge. The “happy” music adds to the relaxing vibe and come on…who can’t smile at that little tiki dude! Another unique aspect to Solitaire TriPeaks is that player can add an extra 30 seconds to their game for 100 coins, allowing extra time to win.
The biggest flaw in Solitaire TriPeaks is the user-friendliness of the app. It took a few taps on the screen to find any kind of a settings area, which turned out to only consist of an option to post on Facebook, raise the music volume, join a chat community, and view some FAQ’s. There are no change of music options, no change of scenery options, no difficulty levels, there just is not much customization available at all.
