Yahoo Mail has altered its terms of services, which has created another privacy debate.
Yahoo Mail is a popular webmail service by Yahoo and it is the second largest one with 275 million users. This mail has revamped its Communication Terms of Service to include a controversial demand. It reads, “By using the Services, you consent to allow Yahoo!’s automated systems to scan and analyze all incoming and outgoing communications content sent and received from your account (such as Mail and Messenger content including instant messages and SMS messages) including those stored in your account to, without limitation.”
Consumer organizations like Which? has branded it as an invasion on privacy. Sara Kidner, the editor of Which? said, “People should have the right to send messages without Yahoo! snooping through them.” Yahoo rejects this claim by saying that it will only move users to the new system if Yahoo Mail users give their consent.
However, this kind of a policy has already been adopted by Gmail, while Microsoft’s Hotmail won’t scan user’s mails.
