Convert All Your Docs to Text with Word-2-Text Converter

This handy tool lets you do it on the go!

For handling DOC files in iOS devices, you can find a lot of apps out there in the App Store. However, most of them have some serious limitations as they can only let you view the content of the document. If you expect a bit more, this review might help you.

Word-2-Text Converter helps users convert their MS Word documents (both DOC and DOCX) into UTF complaint text files, so that they can edit the content with text processors. Apart from the recent DOC formats, this app can also support the old binary format – Word 97-2003. Word-2-Text Converter can also display the comments, so there is no chance for misinterpretation.

Word-2-Text Converter supports importing documents through iTunes file sharing and cloud storage services such as iCloud and Dropbox and can also open documents that come as email attachments. In the same way, the converted text files can be sent as email or exported to the cloud storage services straight from the app. If the users want to pass the text to other apps, they can do it like a breeze. I think users need to be aware of the limitations of the text format. Even though, this app can display comments, all the content would be displayed as plain text. There will be no format and of course, you can’t extract images. Word-2-Text Converter uses tags structure to display headers, footers, endnotes, comments and footnotes.

Word-2-Text Converter is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 3.2 or later. This app is pretty slim (2.1 MB) and loads in no time. It supports English, Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Word-2-Text Converter was launched a week ago and this first version looks fine without bugs. It costs USD 1.99.
