LexiMobile HD, an iPad app, comes loaded with thesaurus, search engines, Wikipedia and all other things a user needs to master the art of crosswords. It has five sections – Categories, Thesaurus, Crossword, Search Result and User Setup. Let me examine it from the Categories area. LexiMobile HD has a wide range of categories ranging from African Countries and English Prime Ministers to Spanish Provinces and Birds.
After choosing a category, users have to input the number of words in the letter and the search pattern. If the users know the beginning letter(s) of the words, they have to select Pattern, while for last letter they need to go with Last. The Within option lets them find the words that have the particular letter(s) in it. After tapping the Search button, users can find all the words listed in Search Result section of the app. If the users don’t type in number of letters nor pattern it will list all the content in the particular category.
The Thesaurus area is almost like Category – users have to give the search word instead of the category. LexiMobile HD would list the alternative words for it. If the users don’t know the category and don’t have any search words, the Crossword section could help them. LexiMobile HD lets users search with websites like Google, Wikipedia and Dictionary (website). They can also add their preferred search engines to the app. Impressive!
LexiMobile HD is pretty easy to use, but according to me, the Help section is inevitable for any app. As LexiMobile HD is an app for crossword lovers, it could possibly attract users of all ages. Therefore, a small area for guidance would certainly get appreciated by them. As all the words are loaded inside the app, this app doesn’t need any internet connection.
LexiMobile HD is compatible with iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later. It also has an iPhone version. If you don’t want to spend your Sunday afternoons struggling to decipher crossword puzzles, LexiMobile HD is the app for you.
