Self – A Meditation Machine Refreshes Your Mind

Practice meditation with your personal guide!

Meditation is a proven technique to gain various physical and mental benefits and an accepted form of alternate therapy. This wonderful tool reduces stress and helps in focusing. If you are a starter and looking for a trainer to guide you in this, this review might help you.

Self – A Meditation Machine, an iPhone app, has all the essential tools to help users meditate. After launching it, users could find a circle that provides the option of four meditation times. Users need to select a time to let this app start the countdown. After the countdown the meditation clock would start ticking.

To accompany the meditation clock, this app has three pack of sounds ONE – Free Relax Sounds, MEL – Melody Pack and NAT – Nature pack. MEL and NAT are available as in-app purchases. while the free pack itself is loaded with 15 sounds, including 5 melodies and 4 nature sounds. When I tried it, the Play button at bottom of the screen left me struggle a bit when I wanted to stop the music.

Self – A Meditation Machine has a Chart section for monitoring the progress. At the end of the meditation session, it shows quotes of great thinkers to let users reflect. The Settings area of the app helps in enabling things like vibrations, reminders and quotes. Users can also tweet about the meditation session straight from the app.

One should appreciate the design of the app, but new users could find it a bit difficult in navigating inside it. Moreover, Self – A Meditation Machine doesn’t have a Help section to guide them in this. As it has a lot of options, a Help area would guide make the most of this app. I hope that the developers will think about this in the future.

Self – A Meditation Machine is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later. No matter whether you are a starter or an expert, this app would help you a great deal in all your meditation sessions.
