YOGA Free – A Must-Have for Fitness Fans

Get the right combination of music and yoga!

YOGA Free is a nifty little app that shows you how to do yoga poses and allows you to custom make you own programs and keeps a record of how much time you have spent doing yoga and what programs you do on which day. It is an excellent addition to any fitness routine and the calming effect of yoga means that even if you only manage fifteen minutes a day of this app it helps with relaxation and de-stressing.

The app is simple and cleanly made. It has the least number of options it can and doesn’t overcrowd you with too much information. It is very self explanatory and a pleasure to use. YOGA Free isn’t fussy and allows you get straight to the yoga, and there are also no popup ads which makes a lovely change, so no chance of getting interrupted mid-session with a pop up asking you to join something or other.

Adding and making your own programs is easy and allows you to have as many as you like meaning you can have some for your own specific reasons e.g; low impact, high impact, pregnancy, injury, limited space, etc.

It does separates all the moves into difficulty and then sorts them by standing, sitting, lying on stomach, lying on back, from the table position and inverted, though, which really helps the ease of use and ability to find a move quickly. This also enables you to have a good mix of different moves in a program.

The muscle diagram on the poses also helps those who are looking to work on, or avoid, one particular area of their body and is great for tailoring. The information on the app is helpful, having text as well as the tutor’s voice to explain the move allows the user to understand about the different poses and what they do. It is more than just a yoga tutorial.

Should you get stuck for any reason it has a very comprehensive help page and explains all the features in depth in case you have any questions. This is excellent for people who want answers quickly – although I can’t see many people finding this program hard to use.

The only thing that is annoying about YOGA Free is the lack of voices you can have as your tutor. It would be nice to have more eg; English with British accent, French, German, Chinese, Spanish and Dutch. That way it would be so much more accessible to people over the world and is also great for people whose first language isn’t English and who may struggle to get the full benefits of this app. The voice that is on there is clear and easy to understand though and talks you through each move making it easy and non-threatening for beginners.

Another nice touch is being able to import music from your iOS device and have it play whilst you do your routine. Lovely especially if you have sounds from nature or classical music to really help you unwind.
