NARR8 – An App for Avid Readers

Animated stories with ear-pleasing music!

It’s so difficult to own every comic strip that take its place in the paper stands, especially, if you are constantly on the move. You might want to own your own library, but the money involved might be quite a bother. Or you want to watch the action scripted in the books taking place, but are unable to visualize it and most of your comic strips do not get the privilege to be framed into pictures. To aid all your problems, the NARR8 Limited has come up with its unique, innovative app, NARR8, which in its own way is a walking pocket library of comics and stories. Not simply another eBook medium, this app promises to deliver its readers with an animated HD version of its stories with ear-pleasing music. Special effects with its variety of styles, transforms each of its fables into a live, action filled adventure with just a touch.

An educational and an entertaining app, NARR8 is available only for iPad users and requires a memory storage of 9.7 MB. Available in languages English and Russian, the iOS requirement is 5.1 or later. It has an ever enlarging variety of themes including horror, romantic, sci-fi, mild profanity or crude humor, mild cartoon or fantasy violence and mild sexual content. Its latest version being 1.0.3, is further updated with new and interactive features like holiday special series and enhanced performance on iPad 1st generation.

Some of the series have good visual effects, animation, storyline and sound effects. A battle of psychiatrists with mind lurking monsters who are out on a hunting spree of their patients’ sanity is named after the Fear Hunter comic series. Multiverse is a sci-fi novel about elite corps out to conquer the universe and the parallel worlds. Exploring the history, discovering the secrets behind artefacts and ruins, is well illustrated through a nonfiction series chronographics.

When you first install the app, the basic features of the app gets downloaded, you can view the list of all the available series and get a brief summary on them, spiced with pictures and animations. You also get to hear other user comments and reviews on the particular series and you can merrily navigate through the lists for your field of interest. Once you have set your mind on one of its comic strips, you are automatically subscribed to it and then you can download it to enjoy the bigger picture of the story. Navigation through the comic is quite simple i.e. when you tap on the lowermost right hand corner of the screen, you move on to the next frame. By clicking on the screen in uppermost right hand corner, the index opens up and the icon in the uppermost left hand corner takes you to the main NARR8 screen. Zooming in on the background details does not blot the magnificent imagery and the sound quality goes in sync with the images. What really set you on are its graphics and impressive animations.

There is an added advantage of NARR8 app i.e. you can share with your friends your current reading profile through facebook and twitter by uploading pics of favorite toons. Also, you can keep a constant update of your friends’ workout with the comics and motion novels through the “social and friends” panel. NARR8 app is well organized as it keeps a track of where you let off reading and bookmarks the page you last visited. Also, it reminds you every time there is a new episode available for you.

NARR8 app though of its merits, has a disadvantage in the field of sharing your contents with your friends. It becomes quite tedious when you try to uncheck people from the selected friend list on facebook with whom you feel like sharing your reading experiences.
