Takuzu Rediscovers the Mathematician in You

Keep your mind and fingers busy!

There are numerous people who find Sudoku and mathematical puzzles to be a bore. I consider myself to be a part of this list as well. Whenever I come across any such things, I try to ignore it. Most people do the same. But RCI-Jeux has come up with a solution to it. Takuzu is not the same stereotype Sudoku games we have come across, it has redefined the puzzle game with simplicity. It is quite different from the newspaper or magazine Sudoku games. This iOS app manages to create interest amongst the users (which includes mathematics haters too).

Takuzu keeps your mind and fingers busy throughout the time. All you need to do is fill up the grids provided with numbers 0 and 1 and of course solve the puzzle. Also there is a timer designed to compete with yourself and eventually become better. Apart from the time factor, there are 3 different difficulty levels. Also there are 5 different grid styles- 4*4, 6*6, 8*8 for iPhone users and 6*6, 8*8, 12*12 for iPad users.

It may sound easy to just fill the grids with 1 and 0 but it isn’t the case. You cannot place more than two 1s and 0s consecutively and all the rows and columns should look different. These instructions are precisely available under the tutorial heading which is present in settings option. It is obvious to make mistakes so there is an undo button (the orange button) to go back to your last move. To increase the speed and prevent time loss there is a re-do button (the blue button) too in case you need to repeat the same move. Also you can erase a number individually by tapping on the clear button (the red one). Once you are done you can tap on the green button (solve) to know the result at once.

The interface is catchy and keeps you engrossed in the game. There also exist 50 free games for you to get started with. Although by the launch of Takuzu, the developers have tried their best to make the game simple and easy, they have not totally lived up to the expectations. The game is quite difficult to understand. It may take some time to know how it works. Even if you get aware of the rules and working of this game, it is quite difficult to complete. You may feel like to quit the game midway.

As a whole, Takuzu is an intellectual game and is pretty much ideal for children to increase their Intelligence Quotient. Only if the difficulty level would have been lower, it could have attracted more users. For me, Takuzu is more or less acceptable and is worth giving a try as per the fact that it is a free app.
