Hiired – Teaser Clips for Jobs and Candidates

Brings jobs and employment seekers together!

Most job-seekers know the various online social networking apps that connect people to employment opportunities. A majority of them are based on static data: a profile, some information about job preferences, a resume and a few other details. Imagine being able to give a 30-second preview of yourself as the best candidate for a position. Actions speak louder than words; and, sometimes just saying a few words in a quick video clip can mean the difference between employment and a never-ending search.

Hirred, from Wiink inc., is a neat app that brings jobs and employment seekers together in a common venue that’s based on 30-second video clips. As a job seeker, you get to sell yourself almost in real-time. As an employer, you get to bring life to the task at hand, and find the right candidate to get the job done. Nothing makes more sense than to be able to make a mini-infomercial about what you have to offer, to sell it better.

Hirred works like this. If you have some work needing completion, and you are looking to hire, you create and post a short video clip of the job. Interested parties will find your job, if it fits the category of employment they seek, they will watch your video, and if interested, will reply with a video of their own to “propose” their services and talk about why they should be hired. As a user looking to hire, you can rate applicants at a high level by looking at their category, where “rising star” is essentially a new user, and “live” is someone who has been active for a while. The app offers automatic connections to Facebook and LinkedIn, so personal information can automatically come from those repositories, and you also benefit from the profiles on those venues.

The overall intent of Hirred is fun and carries great potential. However, it lack in the basic premise that it is extremely difficult to describe a project or work assignment in enough detail to render it understandable to a potential hire. At the same time, can an employer truly know the credentials of a candidate in just 30 seconds? This app could become something vastly valuable if it adds on the value of a resume and detailed profile to follow the 30-second snippet. I can see some potential in making the 30-second clip a teaser, luring the viewer to want to learn more about a job or candidate. In the grand scheme of things, this may be a fun app to download and just see how things work. Who knows, if you wait long enough, it may turn out to deliver something bigger than what the creators envisioned.

  • I was curious if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got
to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content
so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot
of text for only having one or 2 images. Maybe you could space it
    out better?
