Dreamworld – Sounds that Stimulate and Heal

Who knew there was science behind sounds and music? We all know that listening to music we like makes us feel good. However, what most don’t know is that listening to certain types of sounds at particular wavelengths actually resonates with components of our body, not only stimulating olfactory sensations, but spreading joy from within. These special sounds travel through the fibers of our being to heal, calm and create peace. Sounds strange, but it’s what Ophir Paz, the creator of Dreamworld, believes and seeks to share, to help fix humankind.

Sounds like a huge undertaking, but just stop and take a look around. Most people these days are plugged into something. It’s either a smartphone, a tablet, laptop or desktop. We spend so many hours trying to connect over WiFi, and we are increasingly becoming more disconnected from what’s in front of us. Ophir has taken the science behind soundwaves and the millennia old knowledge innate to meditation and yoga and has created an neat app that combines the two to create a space where you can just sit back, relax and let the music take over. Composer and songwriter, he has created a collection of mystic sounds and lyrics that speak to critical components of the body – also known as chakras. When you download the app, the main screen displays a colorful yet serene graphic depicting ten circles, which represent these chakras. Tap one and listen as it soothes that part of your being. The sounds have been recorded in 432 Hz, which scientifically resonates with the human body to help you literally “feel” the music.

Tap each circle to reveal a different piece of music. You can pause and restart when you wish. When you tap outside any of the chakras, the app reveals a menu bar at the bottom of the screen, where you can pause, rewind or forward. You can also read up on the creator, share the music or donate, using the target-like icon on the left. Read a poem by selecting the icon on the right. Shuffle through the sounds or play one at a time. It’s all up to you.

As promising as the app makes itself out to be, I find it lacking in depth. It simply is just a collection of ten pieces of music. After you’ve listened to all ten several times, what then? Maybe it can be reserved for extreme occasions to help calm. Not really sure what the intention of the app was past listening to the collection, which is a single album, a few times. I trust that more variety will come to pass as donation pour in. Yet, the intention is still golden. How selfless and caring to share an album that comes from the heart, with the hope of sending the message in the best way possible at wavelengths that work best. We are all looking for ways to find peace and harmony, and it all starts from within.
