Develop Healthy Habits with Habitizer

Stay active, fit and happy!

Habitizer is a relatively new android app that gives people the opportunity to develop healthy habits. While Habitizer was originally designed for anyone’s use, Habitizer Women’s Edition is designed specifically for women. The app helps women develop habits that will allow them to stay active, fit, happy and boost their overall self-esteem. Let’s take a look at what the app brings to the table.

Basically, the app aims at providing ladies with an easier platform for managing your reminders with the sole intent of developing and maintaining healthy habits. It gives a better alternative to the calendar with much more options.

First, you have to download the app, which costs around two dollars from the Google Playstore. Once you have the app downloaded you simply install it, open it, sign up by creating your username and password and begin developing those habits.  The first thing you are shown after logging in is a screen with three options: recommended, basic and custom. These are the three settings you have for creating your habits but you are not limited to using only one of them for the rest of your life. You can go back and forth between the settings anytime you want without getting rid of any saved habits by clicking the plus sign at the top of the screen. This sign also allows you to add new habits. The app provides you with reminders, a length of time to develop the habit and a difficulty level as well.

The recommended setting basically picks your habits for you based on the goal sheet you will fill out when you choose this setting. You are then given several main topic choices such as diet, stress and family. Each main topic comes with several subtopics as well, which are your habits. You check the habits you want and they will be saved to your “My Habits” tab.

The basic setting is where you simply choose a habit form the list provided. You do not fill out a chart, you just choose the main topic you wish to work on and then the habits you want to develop.

The custom setting is where you can create your own, specific habit. You are sent to a page that allows you to choose what the topic of the habit is (personal, diet, stress, etc.) and from there, you type in the name of the habit and its description. You will also be able to choose the duration that the reminders will be served. You can also choose if you will be allowed to mess up, how many times you can be allowed to fail and the repercussions of your failure.

The settings tab provides you with many options for making your Habitizer experience unique. The first option you have is whether or not you want daily notifications and what time you want them. The notifications go off once per day so make sure you are also engaged in some other way to remind yourself of the new habit. You can also choose the ringtone you want for your notifications.

One of the most interesting features of Habitizer is the statistics tab! This is where you can see the habits you have completed, the ones you failed, where you stand “so far” with your current habits and you can also leave comments for yourself. This is helpful because it allows you track your progress and see what areas may need improvement.

Also, you can check in each day to record your daily progress by clicking the checkmark at the top of the screen. Here, you record whether or not you completed the habit that day by clicking “ok” or “no”.

The main problem with this app is that you are only allowed one habit reminder (notification) per day. This seems illogical considering developing a habit takes much more than that. There should be another option in the settings for how many times per day you want to be reminded. For example if you want to eat a piece of fruit with every meal, you should have the option to set 3 reminders for yourself.

Habitizer is a great way to kick those unhealthy habits and develop healthy new ones. The app provides several options for you to choose from or you can create your own healthy habit so nobody is ever at a loss here! Overall, this app is a great tool you can use at all times to help you with your habit-making goals!
