As one of the most addicting bird-themed apps out there today, Hungry Bird is guaranteed to make you smile and keep you from boredom. The app is free to download through the Google Play Store and takes up around 16M of space on your device. Hungry Bird usually installs in a matter of seconds so there is no need to worry about that aspect.
Hungry Bird is designed around a single, very hungry blue bird that seems to really enjoy fruit! Once you open the app, you are taken to the main screen, which says, “Click to Play, Avoid the Cactus!” From there you tap the screen and feed your little blue bird!
Once the game is initiated, several varieties of fruit including apples, oranges and raspberries will start to fall from the top of the screen. Your job is to tap the screen (or the actual piece of fruit depending on the sensitivity of your device) whenever you see a piece of fruit in order to feed your bird. Each piece of fruit the bird eats is worth one point. Be careful though! Sometimes you will see a cactus or two appear on the screen; do not click on those! If you click the screen for a cactus, your bird dies and your round is over. It is harder than you would think because the more you play, the more adjusted you get to just tapping the screen so make sure you know what you are feeding your bird!
There are no “levels” to this game. The more you play and the higher your score becomes, the faster fruit and cacti will start to fall. This game quickly becomes highly addictive because all you want to do is beat your score and before you know it, you have spent three hours tapping fruit!
There are a couple aspects to Hungry Bird that really stand out. First off, the music that the app comes with is exciting enough to keep you awake yet subtle enough that you do not want to make it stop. It is almost, tapping your toes to the beat, worthy. The app itself was also crystal clear had well designed graphics.
The other aspect of Hungry Bird that was interesting was that you are able to share your high scores and challenge your friends to a game through Facebook and Twitter. This is a wonderful aspect as it allows for some “social interaction” and friendly competition.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no settings option with this app. Although this is not a crucial piece, it is still something that could be off putting. Most people prefer to have some options that will allow them to make the game unique to them. Some aspects that might be beneficial to include would be a music selection, choosing the color of your bird or perhaps even the option to purchase “specialty fruits”.
Hungry Bird is absolutely an addicting and enticing game for anybody who owns a phone that is compatible with apps. You are easily entertained during those long car rides or plane trips and anyone of any age can play and enjoy the app. Download the app for free right now and start feeding your feathery friend! Just make sure you avoid the cacti!
