The Calorie Counter Macros Diet app by Joemama Soul App is a health/nutrition app designed around macronutrients. Macronutrients are the pieces of a well balanced diet that are to be consumed in fairly large amounts, such as protein, carbohydrates, and several minerals including Zinc or Iron. This app is there to either support you during a weight loss journey or help you maintain your current weight by allowing you to track your caloric intake, exercise, and even copy/paste articles you find on the Internet, to the app’s storage center. You can also download recipes that relate to your macro diet needs. This app is designed for both men and women.
The Calorie Counter Macros Diet works by allowing you to set a weight loss goal as well as keep track of how much of each nutrient you need per day in order to be healthy. Here is a quick description of what you will see when you download the app. First, on a bonus note, the app opens right up with no need for a username or email submission. However, this can also be a concern if you’d prefer a more private app. The app opens up to a split screen with six tracking methods on the left and the progress tabs on the right. Basically, you are supposed to set up your calorie requirements for that specific day (so you need to do this process daily) as well as set up your percentages of protein, fat, and carb calories. You can also include your fiber intake if you would like. With the “quick add calories” and exercise tabs, you can quickly add in that snack you had between meals and the amount of calories you burned during that HIIT session! If you come across a recipe you like online, you can either add it to the apps database or write it down in the apps log tab. As you fill in your information for the day, the tables on the right side of the screen will track your progress and let you know when you have met your goals for the day.
There are a few aspects that make Calorie Counter Macros Diet stand out. First of all, the app is colorful and lively (black background with neon green, yellow, red, and blue writing. It’s actually exciting to open and the colors appear motivating and not dull like many health/fitness apps. Also, the “TIPS” tab at the top of the screen actually supplies useful and motivating tips to keep you going while providing new ideas to keep your workouts or meals exciting. Lastly, the “add to database” tab is something I have never seen before. You can actually copy/paste a URL that you find motivating and save it directly to the app.
The only legitimate cons we saw were that the app doesn’t help you determine what your recommended caloric intake is. You need to do that research yourself, which just seems unnecessary. It’s a health/wellness app; it should be able to help you figure out what you need to do in order to be healthier, maintain your current weight, or even gain weight if that’s what you’re looking to do. Also, the settings tool gives very little power to the user. The only setting option they have, although it is unique, is the option to change the viewing screens from right handed to left-handed. All this does is flip the way the main screen is viewed. Those two issues could be addressed and improved.
