Gaming apps can get fairly complicated and require an immense amount of concentration and agility. Sometimes it’s nice to just open up an app and play something that’s a bit more simple, but still challenging. For those of you who love a good beat and move to it well, there is Amazing Beat; and, although it sounds extremely simple, it is not an easy beat to keep up with.
Amazing Beat comes to us from Hadi Pintato, who has incorporated a neat assortment of unique and interesting music genres and blended them into a game that tests how quickly your fingers can react to your sense of sound. Musical renditions come from Jesse Valentine, DJ Runaway, and Zero Bass. As the music plays in the background, your eyes, ears, and fingertips must move in synch with each other and with the beat.
The game works like this. Choose from a selection of five music categories to play. Once you’ve done this, the game starts by sending a stream of circles and squares as each beat is pounded out. As each shape appears, it’s your job to tap the correct side of the screen. The screen is set up vertically, with a line down the middle, along which the shape falls. When you tap on one side or the other, the shape moves to that side. If you don’t tap at the right time, and the symbol falls to the bottom of the screen, then the game ends. You do, however, get an opportunity to restart and play again.
While the game seems overly simple and mundane when you first read its description, it is far from that. Once you get it started, there is no turning back. The first few rounds are easier to master and move past, but once you accomplish this, the pace quickens rapidly and forces you to take a breath every time. You may get frustrated at times, but with practice, you will get it down.
The only real downside to the game is the lack of instruction on what to do. It opens with a screen that gives simple explanations of what to do, which is basically tap one side or the other; however, I was not entirely sure of where to tap, nor was I aware of how fast those objects would appear and move. And believe me, they came and went, fast! So, it may take a few rounds to get the hang of it.
The nice thing is that you are not constantly bombarded with in-app ads, which annoyingly infiltrate free apps. Plus, if you looking for a game that is simple and fun all at the same time, and you like a good beat, then Amazing Beat is a great download. It will fill up your senses and strengthen your hand-eye coordination at the same time.
