Develop Key Skills in Kids with Fun for Kids

A great way to entertain kids!

If you are desperately look for a fun way to keeps kids busy while you are out and about, then look no further. Tycero has added to its Fun for Kids array of entertaining apps – a new edition called Learning Puzzles. Learning Puzzles has kids of all ages finding and fitting pieces together in a fun and colorful assortment of graphics and images that entice and excite. Kids can start easy at the beginning and then work their way up to more interesting and challenging puzzles.

This app not only keeps your little ones busy, it helps develop fine motor skills and special recognition. Puzzles have always been a great exercise to tone and hone in on developmental skills for kids. Now, you can take these exercise anywhere you go, either on your iPhone or on your iPad, so you have puzzles on hand, without the mess of loose pieces!

When you first open the app, you will be taken to a puzzle to complete. It’s usually very simple and extremely easy one from the eyes of an adult. The maximum number of pieces numbers five and increases as you move up in difficulty. If you don’t like the image, you simply tap on the House icon to bring up the home page. From there you can select from different genres of pictures. There are wild animals, stuffed animals, outer space robotics, fun picnic items, and music.

When you are ready to complete a puzzle, you will see the final image in a faded out rendering. This gives kids a clue as to where each puzzle piece fits. Kids simply put their finger on a piece, drag it over to where they think it goes, and then release their finger. If the piece “fits,” it stays. If it does not “fit,” it moves back to its original place. Once a puzzle is complete, a short piece of music plays, the sound of a car, or if it’s an animal, the sound of the animal is played, which gives a fun reward at the completion of a job well done!

When a puzzle is complete, click on the green right arrow icon to do the next one, or tap on the Home icon to select a genre of your own choosing. When you tap on the right arrow, the app takes on the decision of which picture to present next. As you complete a puzzle, you get a star. After you have collected six stars, you get a large star. It was unclear to me what happens next or how more challenging puzzles are then presented.

Fun for Kids is very simple and straightforward, with no bells and whistles. It is meant to keep kids focused on the puzzle, and not on earning points or beating someone else. I’m all for simple apps, but this app got to be a bit boring after a while. I can see tiny tots being able to master this fairly quickly, because let’s face it, kids are much more tech savvy than we often give them credit for. It would be fantastic to be able to select the difficulty level up front, and make adjustments as needed.
