If your head spins every time you see a snazzy car pull up or drive by, and you just have to share the moment with a friend, or with other car-crazed fans, then InstaCar is the app for you. Sounds just like that all too familiar app that everyone has on hand to share a quick and quirky moment, and only keep up for a temporary time, this app is just for those precious car moments. That does not mean you can’t get in on the action as well, but be forewarned, that this crowd will be panting over the car, and not you.
The app uses your device’s camera to take a photo. You then have a choice of templates to enhance and arrange the photos you take. The photo can then be further enhanced with location services turned on. The app’s internal location service is powered by FourSquare. Sharing is just as easy, with accessibility to Facebook and Twitter. There is no need to copy and paste and send. It’s all accessible from within the app.
Here’s how it works. You open the app, take a photo and then add what you want. The rightmost button at the bottom of the screen allows you to add some fun text to bring some added explanation to what you are about to share. You can also invert the photo’s coloring and more. You can choose to add your location, or you can opt to keep it private. It’s all up to you. A really neat photo template offers the option to show two cars at the same time and pose the question, This car or this? Which is better? The templates also allow you to call out specific car makes and models from a huge list they maintain, which makes it easier on you, because then you don’t have to type it all out.
Once you are done, you can email your creation or send it via built in social media hooks. You can even save the photo to a photo album and print it, if you have access to a WiFi printer. There was not much negative to be said about this app. I liked it simplistic layout, which made it extremely easy to find everything you needed and to figure out how to perform the functions you need. The main screens are a bit ambiguous, so a help screen would be nice. However, with a little experimentation, details are discovered and understood.
It’s quick and easy to use and allows you to capture a moment and share it. What if you say a Lamborghini or a Rolls Royce? It’s not every day that you see wheels like those. You could even come up games and challenges amonst friends to see who finds the most expensive car on a particular day, or even who can find the most BMWs. Heck, you could even play electronic “PunchBuggy” with a friend! The paid version of InstaCar is available for $0.99
