When voice messaging became popular, revolutionizing the way messages are “delivered”, everyone latched onto it, seeing a more “personal” alternative to SMS or text messaging. It did not take long after countless voice messaging apps cropped up, offering to make voice messaging an easier, better, and more interactive experience. GSoft LLC introduced its take on how this mode of communication should be done with its latest app, aptly called Talk To Me.
The concept of Talk To Me is pretty straightforward, and the developers did not mince words in telling us what it is all about. It is an “Android app which allows you to send voice messages to yourself or your friends without typing”. This is sure to pique the interest of any voice messaging advocate since it pretty much speeds up the process and saves significant time (and effort) to create voice messages.
But that is not the only feature that Talk To Me boasts. It also allows users to listen to voice messages without looking at the screen of their phones. Talk To Me is free for the first 90 days, and upgrade to a licensed version when the 90-day period has lapsed and you want to enjoy more of the app. Upon its introduction, the first 100,000 downloads were given the chance to score the full version of Talk To Me for free.
Fortunately, the simplicity of the concept also translates to how it is used. There are no complicated hoops to jump through in order to get started in sending voice messages. The user interface is easy to understand and navigate, thanks to tabs on top. There are only 4 tabs: All Msgs, Contacts, Groups, and Options.
Voice messages are recorded on the phone, with details also recorded, including name of sender and recipient, the date and time when the voice message was recorded and the duration of each voice message. In order to reply to a voice message, there is a Reply button that can be pressed and you can start recording away.
In order to enter Talk Mode, just shake the device. The app will literally talk to you, informing you what you are about to do, precluding the need to glance at the screen to see where you are. When you are ready to record, just tap on the screen. Another tap will immediately stop the recording.
Convenience is the best offering of Talk To Me. Imagine being on the move, or when you are doing something and your hands are too busy to have to deal with your cell phone manually to deliver messages. Just by shaking your phone or pressing once, you can start talking and sending your voice messages. When a voice message arrives, you can play it without taking your eyes off the road while you are driving or from the game you are currently watching on the television.
Moving from one menu to another can be done by merely swiping on the screen. All it takes to start recording or to stop is a tap on the screen. Talk To Me has made things even easier since it also allows notifications to be played through a speaker, or through a connected compatible device via Bluetooth.
At the moment, Talk To Me is a free app, but only for the first 90 days. It would have been a good idea if they keep it free even after 90 days, giving users the option to upgrade to a fully licensed version, with additional features. It is also available in Android, and there is no mention if it is or – in the future – will be available in iTunes for Apple users.
