Division Z Takes Zombie Destruction to New Heights

Makes strategy and planning a survival skill!

Tower defense games come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, if you can just imagine, and are nothing new to the gaming scene. The variety of enemies that encroach battlefields across the various gaming apps are plenty, but once you’ve mastered a game, it can get dull. If you seek a scene that’s new and challenging, Division Z can provide just that.

Created by the playful minds at Thinking Monkey Studio – try not to giggle – have assembled their own version of a tower-building, divisive defense game that pits players against a new wave of enemy – zombies. Sure, zombies have been seen far and wide in the gaming galaxy, but Division Z brings a fresh take to taking them on with multiple levels of difficulty and rewards that increase as your tactical skill soar.

While Division Z is currently only available on the iPad, you will see the benefit to this, because a larger screen is necessary for strategizing and building up structures. As in other tower defense games, your aim is to tactically construct towers armed with a plethora of devices that will zone in on and destroy the continual surges of zombie aggressors.

The download is simple and free – a big plus these days! Once downloaded, game play is fairly straightforward. For veterans to tower defense, explanations are not needed. For newbies, know that you will have to go through several trial and error phases, gain experience and familiarity, before you start to see results and move up in the ranks.

The game guides you though 18 stages presenting increasing levels of difficulty. The earlier stages may take time to tackle, but as you progress, you will easily see that only the strategically skillful will survive. Don’t let this thwart you, it’s a game worth trying out.

As you raise towers and zap oncoming zombies, you’ll earn the points and power to upgrade towers and arms, which is vital to survival becomes the challenges presented will grow increasingly complicated. The challenges the game puts before players also includes restricting where you can put your towers, which makes strategy and planning a survival skill.

During play, if you are in a bind, an energy boost can be purchased to pump up soldiers and increase your tower’s power to take on the undead creatures crawling the landscape. Outside the battle field, you can capitalize on branch-type improvements that unlock as you pass through difficulty levels.

The graphics throughout are amazing and draw you into the experience even further. The only downside to the game was the quickness with which skills must be obtained in order to master and pass through levels. It took several trial and error runs for me to get the gist of things and move on. That may be just me, and I will guess that tower defense gurus will scoff at this comment. I’m sure that constant practice at battle will carry me farther into the game.
