If you are looking for a way to connect to people in a way that’s protected and private, then Raendel (for iOS and Android) is just the app you are looking for. When you want to share photos and get feedback on what you’ve been up to lately, Facebook, Twitter and all of those other social media engines work great. They expose to an extent that allow you to openly share and interact with others.
Sometimes, there are moments when you need to share thoughts, feelings, emotions, ideas, or even need someone to just quietly listen. In those moments, Raendel offers the ability to make connections that matter, without exposing yourself to an extent that feels uncomfortable or makes you feel vulnerable.
To register, you must provide:
What’s really neat about Raendel is that you don’t have to give out extensively exposing amounts of personal information – no photos are necessary, no phone numbers are necessary. You give out information that you feel comfortable with sharing. You get to decide on when you want to share more of yourself only after you have made connections that you feel are worthy of such.
The range of distance basically defines the physical area within which you wish to find contacts to connect with, based on a minimum and maximum range. For example, if you don’t wish to connect with anyone who lives in your town or metropolis, you could pick a minimum range of 100 miles or so. Then you pick a maximum range to extend the area from which to find potential chatters. The neat thing about the app is that you will find someone who speaks your language, because that is one of the settings all members must provide.
Once you have set your parameters, Raendel will provide a list of contacts based on your settings. You are then free to establish a connection to anyone on your contacts list by placing a call. What you won’t find here are chat sessions or video conferencing. Raendel removes the social stigmas of appearances and fake personalities often formulated by posting photo-shopped images and fake profiles. What you get is a real person to talk to, who may not necessarily have the same hobbies or interests, but has come to this forum to connect through conversation, and nothing else.
The only downside to this app is the fact that you can share your contacts with your friends on Facebook and Twitter. I am not sure if that allows for the app to maintain its original intent if you go and share information that is supposed to stay within the Raendel environment.
This app is absolutely the most appropriate way to reach out and have a conversation with someone when you need it most. Sometimes you just need someone to listen and Raendel give you just that.
