Increase Productivity with FileCalendar

If you are like me, you rely heavily on your iCalendar to get things done. Most people put a great deal of dependency on calendar apps to help them manage their time and get the most out of it, because let’s face it, we’ve all got a lot on our plates.

Sometimes just having an event on your calendar is not enough. Sometimes you need extra information to help elaborate on the event and make it more meaningful. This could be an agenda for a meeting. It could be a shopping list for a vacation. It could even be fun photos that are a precursor to a party. Whatever the case, using FileCalendar helps you add that vital information, taking your calendar events to a whole new level of value.

FileCalendar simply builds upon your existing iCalendar app on your iPhone or iPad. You can even sync across devices, because it will be a part of your Apple profile. In a nutshell, FileCalendar allows you to upload and attach files, a whole assortment of them, to your calendar events.

File types supported include .docx, .key, .xlsx, .jpg, pages, mp4s, and more. You can even take screenshots and photos in the moment or from your albums and attach those. Files can even be loaded from iTunes or your computer.

Upload of files is super simple. With a few simple taps, you are prompted with all you need to select the type of file you’ll upload and where to get it from. What is really neat about the app is that you can rename the file you’re uploading and even edit it.

What I found most valuable about FileCalendar, and this feeds into productivity factor, is the ability to load up the information you need for a meeting. You don’t have to go fishing into your email to look for the document that covers the agenda or the information you will be reviewing. Now, you simply tap on the event, and just below it will be all the attachments you need to execute and participate in the meeting.

If you feel like there is anything confusing, or you’re the kind of person who likes tours of apps before using them, then FileCalendar meets all expectations on that, as well.

To start, download the app. Next, if you want to import all existing events from iCalendar, you can do so. If you want to start fresh, you can do that, too.

On the surface, FileCalendar is an awesome tool that is intuitive and easy to navigate. I do have to say that the app kind of stops in functionality once you grow used to the fact that you can upload files to events. I hope to see some additions and updates to features to help grow the app’s applicability to simplifying my life.

Update from the developer: We have improved the app. You can download files from cloud. The search function have been renewed from the ground up, you can write notes as much you want and the files display the color of the calendar. Spanish is the new third language. There is also a lite version available for free.

I will continue to use the app with what it currently offers and will eagerly look forward to the enhancements as they come.
