Addalets – Word Puzzle to Stretch and Strengthen Your Mind

There’s no doubt that a strong command of any language you communicate in is a strength that cannot be measured. If you know the right words to use for any purpose, your purpose is well understood and you get results. You also get your point across better. You connect better. For those of us who use the English language extensively, we know all too well how social media is slowly destroying it, with users typing in words using spelling that does not even exist, just to type faster and use less characters. It’s no wonder that we’ve lost the ability to communicate clearly.

Addalets could change that.

Addalets is a word game that works the mind to learn more about the letters that make up words and helps you to learn more words and what they mean. There are several word games out there, where you have to create words from a jumble of letters, but Addalets takes it a step further by providing you with the meaning of the different words you could be creating.

The object of the game is to take a set of words and create new set of words using the letters in the word given as the theme word. You tap on one letter and insert it into one of the listed words to create a new word. This invariably forces you to think of new words and, hopefully, know what they mean. If you don’t know what they mean, you can tap on the definitions once you’ve completed the game to see what they are.

The goal is to collect as many coins as possible. As you complete games and daily challenged, you get more coins. Daily challenge completion earns you even more coins than if you completed a few puzzles a day.

As you drag a letter into its new place, it will turn green if correct and red if not. Note that it could turn green for a choice you’ve made, but if that letter truly belongs in another word, then you’ll figure that out when you get to that last word and find that the only remaining letter simply won’t fit. Another catch is that the letter can be inserted in front of a current word or anywhere in between, but not at the end.

The initial set of words is easy, of course, but as you make your way through the puzzles, you will find the word choice grows more sophisticated and will challenge your vocabulary. Puzzles start with three words that need to be placed all the way to six letters. After that, there are challenges and seasonal sets, which cost between $1.99 and $2.99. You can also buy coins if you wish, allowing you to purchase additional puzzle sets.

I really could not find anything wrong with the app. It has a tutorial and the ability to shuffle puzzles if you want to see some variety. The only thing I would like to see is maybe the ability to see the words you built once more and view the definitions later. Once you click to move on to the next game, I don’t think you can read the definitions. At least I have not found a way.

Addalets is a very fun game to play if you love letters and building words. Some people have a knack for it, and will easily solve puzzles, but for those of you who are looking for a vocabulary building game app, Addalets is one to try.
