FileCalendar Keeps you Organized and On Track

So often, events and items we put into our calendars are supplemented with files. Things like invites, lists, presentations, pictures, the list goes on. Most calendar apps these days don’t support the ability to tack on files to events you enter into their calendars, making it difficult to link them. This can get annoying especially if you use your calendar on a mobile device and you need to get to a file fast.

Have no fear, FileCalendar is here! It’s an iOS app that serves as an add on to your device’s calendar app. It lets you attach files to each event. Files can be documents, agendas, shopping lists, notes, photos, videos and more. Not only is it a great tool for work, it’s beneficial for any project or time management needs you have. From planning board room meetings to planning birthday parties, FileCalendar keeps your stuff in one place, so you can focus on the meeting or event, not on searching for information.

The app is free to download and easy to navigate. There is nothing difficult about it. The layout is clean and options are easy to understand and use. For each day, you can view the calendar items as a list or in the traditional calendar block view. When you drill down into one day, you can view the items, see what time they start and end, and easily detect what type of files, if any, are attached, based on the color coding and the file extension. For example, it could say png, zip or doc.

To upload, you simply tap on the plus sign after tapping on the event, and start uploading from the device or from the

Upon download and integration with the iOS calendar, you’ll see the events you’ve already got set up. As you enter more events into the calendar, you’ll see those populate in the FileCalendar as well. You can even add those events in FileCalendar instead, and it will sync up into your iOS calendar.

What I really like about FileCalendar is the multiple levels of functionality you can squeeze out of it. You can attach a shopping list to an event you’ve entered to “get groceries”, or add an agenda to a meeting you have set up. But, what’s really cool is using FileCalendar as a way to engage with invitees before and after the event.

Use FileCalendar to act as a teaser to a party you’re hosting in a few weeks. Upload photos or videos of the events to come to get everyone in the mood. During the party, you can take all the pics you want from the FileCalendar itself, so all the pics are there. If you’re meeting up with a friend to share some pics of a vacation you just took, you can have those pics attached to your lunch date event and in an instant, you’ll be able to pull them all up. No wasted time searching for them from the Photo app.

Photos taken using FileCalendar or attached to FileCalendar events can be uploaded to the Cloud from within the app, so you can easily store them and never lose them. Files can also be sent to FileCalendar from other apps, so you can easily share docs that were created from other applications.

If there’s anything I could recommend in terms of changes, it would be to change their coloring from the current green they use to something brighter or more cheerful. The current green has too much of a military look to it.

FileCalendar has become a productivity tool I cannot live without. It’s added a new dimension of value to my calendar and has saved me tons of time. I would highly recommend downloading it and taking advantage of it.
