TakeLessons Live – Learn Something New or Find Tutors to Help

Have you ever want to learn to play the piano or guitar, but just didn’t have the time to get to a class? Have kids who need a tutor in math or English? Check out TakeLessons. It’s an app that brings together a community of educators in sorts of disciplines with students looking to learn.

The app itself is a mobile version of the desktop program. While the mobile version has a smaller set of courses, it’s just as functional, if not more because of its mobility. You can download TakeLessons on your iPhone or iPad, which means lessons go with you. No more driving to them!

There is a basic set of subjects whose classes are free in TakeLessons. You can take piano, guitar and singing lessons, or American Sign Language, French and Spanish. Once you choose a subject, you will see a list of different class times and teachers from which to choose. All you have to do is browse through them and see which time fits into your schedule and which teacher seems to fit you best.

The beauty of TakeLessons is that if a teacher you chose does not quite fit your learning style, you can always look for another and switch over to another. The right teacher can make all the difference when you are learning something new.

Parents of students who are struggling with certain subjects will also find assistance in TakeLessons. Mind you that many of the courses not listed above are under the private lesson category and will require a fee, but the fees are disclosed, so you know what you’ll be paying up front.

The app is easy to use and is organized in such a ways that makes it easy to find instructors and class times. You can easily switch between subjects, too. Once you’ve found an instructor you like, you can even look into other classes they teach, to see if they offer anything else you might have an interest in.

Once you start using the app more, you’ll see how beneficial the other parts of the app are. There’s a Schedule of your classes and there is also a way to keep track of your classes and progress. The app even rewards you at various milestones, to help keep you motivated and on track.

What I’d like to see is my classes showing up in other calendars I use, so I don’t book a class at a time that I have something else going on.

I am sure that will be a feature offered soon, but until then, I plan on checking out a few piano classes to see if I can’t pick up something new!
