Lope – Let Someone Else Organize Your Calendar While You Get Things Done

It’s easy to make a to-do list and work on each item to get them done. What can be difficult is knowing how best to schedule each item on your to-do list, so they are organized in the most efficient way possible, so you get every task done when they need to be done, and still have time for yourself.

Lope is a productivity app, similar to the many that are already out there. However, Lope differs from other productivity apps in that it uses Lean principles to organize and schedule your tasks efficiently, taking this responsibility off your shoulders. All you are left with is actually getting the work done, rather than worrying about when you should do it.

Lope needs access to you calendar in order for it to help you. Once you download the free app, you will be asked to share it. No other information is required. The app is free to use until you hit 200 tasks, at which point if you wish to continue using the app, you will need to sign up for a subscription.

For each task you enter you may enter and end date if there is. You can also pick a duration of 10 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour or 2 hours. There is no way to create a repeatable task, which is something I would like to have.

I would like to see more options on the time it takes for a task. Maybe 15-minute intervals would be preferable.

The app is fairly easy to navigate through. The default page is Today, which shows you what’s on tap for the day and what’s left to do. At the very top of this screen, it gives you a running total of hours worked on tasks and any appointments you might have. There is an area from where you can create and edit Tasks. Memos are a separate category. Memos are tasks I don´t want to forget but where I see no need to do them soon (“nice to do”).

The Results area of the app gives you a nice dashboard of sorts to see your current workload and how well you are getting things done. Lope uses this information to warn you when you have a heavy load, which helps you re-prioritize and maybe even move things around. I don’t know of any apps that perform this type of analysis and provide you with warnings to make changes to your calendar, so you stay productive.

Overall, I found Lope to be a useful tool that not only lets you create tasks but helps you schedule them in an efficient way, so you don’t over do it on one day and do too little on another day. It takes into consideration when tasks need to be done and what time you have available to help you make better choices.
