ReceiptFriend – Save and Retrieve Receipts with Ease

Everything is going digital. While not all businesses give you the option to get a digital receipt, many are jumping on the bandwagon. It saves space in your pocket, and it saves the Earth. Plus, it makes a ton easier to find those receipts when they are sitting in your email somewhere, compared to if they are stuffed in your glove compartment or the inner recesses of your bag – or better yet, gets thrown out with the shopping bag.

Now, you can make all of your receipts digital by taking a snapshot of them and saving them all in one place, ReceiptFriend. ReceiptFriend is an app that lets you easily save receipts and file them away neatly so you can find them when you need them. This works great for everyday expenses and for business travel. You don’t have to worry about collecting all those paper receipts and wonder where they all went. Think about all those times when you were checking out quickly from a purchase and you stuffed the receipt somewhere, later to find that you could not remember where you put it.

With ReceiptFriend all you have to do is take a picture of it and save it. You can add details about that receipt later. These details include Date, Number of Items, and a few other tidbits of information that will help you find that receipt in the future.

These details come in handy when it comes to several things. You will use those details to organize and order your receipts, those details are information you can use to search for receipts, you can even use those details to list out how many receipts you have for particular categories of purchases, like restaurants, clothing, business related, and more. ReceiptFriend offers a wide range of functionality and support for an app that simply saves receipts.

The app let you take pictures of receipts from within the app, so you need to provide access to your camera and your photo album. Also, ReceiptFriend will save app data to the Cloud, so you will need to provide a password to gain access to those backups. This is an important feature because it allows you to move between devices and keep your information synchronized.

ReceiptFriend also lets you set up some information in the app to help you customize it, like choosing the currency you want to work in and setting up bank and credit card information. The latter is more for in-app purchases to upgrade to ReceiptFriend+, which I assume offers and expanded set of functions.

I would like to see some improvement in the area of being able to create reports so you can say, “show me all receipts for store XYZ in the month of May”. I think that would make the app a great resource for financial management and would boost its usability.

With what is currently offers, it provides a great deal of convenience and functionality by digitizing all receipts and allowing users to organize and retrieve them easily. It does the busy work for you so you can spend more time on more important tasks.
