VDV MATCH 3 RPG: ZOMBIES – Use Your Candy Crush Skills to Kill Zombies

VDV MATCH 3 RPG: ZOMBIES is a fun game where your army of soldiers land into a place infested with zombies and it is your task to have the place get rid of those walking-dead creatures. You start with 4 soldiers and slowly build your army, turning the place from a zombie infested area to a habitable zone.

At first appearance, VDV MATCH 3 RPG: ZOMBIES seems like a hybrid of first person shooting game combined with a “match 3” puzzle game interface, where if you’re able to match 3 or more tiles of the same type, your squadron of 4 soldiers (and a dog) shoots the walking dead creatures ahead of you. The zombies come in waves, in a group of two or more, trying to eat the soldiers alive (typical) and it is up to your candy-crush skills to find a way to get rid of them.

Even though you have a squad of four soldiers to begin with (with a gunner, a sniper, a medic, and a recon soldier), each day you play the game, you get new recruits. However, your squad can accommodate a maximum of 10 soldiers, with you being the commander of them. There is also a dog along with your squad of soldiers that often barks at the zombies, which seemed very funny, since the barks also “stun” the zombies!

As you play through the game, killing the zombies (and making the world a better place to live), you get to choose how you want to train your soldiers (by choosing the kind of stats you want them to improve) and even promote them. You also get to customize your army through different weapons and gears that they carry, but sometimes you might need to make an in-app-purchase to enjoy the game fully. Alternatively, you have to play the game long enough to collect different weapons, gears and other combat essential equipment. In addition, you can build and improve your home base.

Although, sometimes you might feel like questioning the kind of skills your army has. For example, when you come up with a match of 5 tiles, you get a mortar tile, which when activated would fire a mortar strike in a completely random direction inside the mission area. Though the game claims to be a strategy game, you can hardly feel the need to place any strategy since you will hardly need much brainpower to be able to assemble 3 tiles of the same type. Nevertheless, the game is a fun way to spend your time, especially during long commutes. It claims to have 3D graphics but the rendering seems 2D to say the least. The background music however seems to be decent but after a while, it may get monotonous.

A good thing about the game is that it does not drain your smartphone’s battery. Playing it for a duration of 15-20 minutes consumed 3% of battery, which is reasonable. Since it is not a resource-intensive game, there are little chances of your phone getting warm through long durations of playing.

Combinations of these perks make it a perfect game to play while waiting for someone, or during commute.
