Swiperly – Test Your Swiping Skills

If you are Dora the Explorer fan, and you like “Swiper no swiping!” then this game may not be for you, but if you can put that aside, you will have tons of fun playing. The key to this game is knowing how to swipe, in what direction to swipe, how fast to swipe and when to swipe. The object of the game is to move your playing piece, which is a ball, across a playing field. This may be a series of platforms set up like steps or a flat surface. You have to move the ball to catch the star in each game. Catch the star and you move on to the next step.

What is really nice about this app is that it provides a description of the game and a practice area so you can get a feel for how to swipe and what it takes to move the ball the way you want it to go. The How to Play screen also keeps your stats, so you can quickly see where you stand. The ball can roll left or right, jump and climb stairs. And while that sounds simple enough, it does take some practice to get it right.

Once you have completed the practice steps, you can start the game. Now, I have to say that I did not like the nature of the very first game because it was a series of steps that were tilting left and right. So, not only did you have to work to keep the ball on the starting platform, you also had to time your swipe at the right angle so it would jump from it’s platform to hit the star, which is floating above another platform, which was hard to see. Not everything was visible all at once.

The playing background is simplistically black and kind of boring, but for those who like simple games, this works well. I have to say that the controls during actual game play were very difficult for me to figure out. I kept dying on the very first game because no matter how quickly I swiped over to the next platform to reach the star, the ball would always fall and would never move in the direction I swiped. It seemed very strange.

There is a total of 25 games to play and each one from 2 to 25 are locked until you unlock the previous level. You can make an in-app purchase to unlock all games, but where’s the fun in that?

If you seek a new game to play that is simple and tests your swiping skills, give Swiperly a try.
