Fans of the puzzle genre will definitely love Railroad Ink Challenge, even if railroads are not their biggest passion. They will only need to go with the flow, place the routes on the board and build the biggest network possible to connect as many exits as they can!
In Railroad Ink Challenge, players will get seven rounds to earn the highest score possible. Each round the Route dice are rolled, and players need to carefully plan how to expand their network with railways, highways, and stations to collect points and connect as many exits as possible, avoiding open connections that will result in a penalization at the end of the game.
Bonus points can be earned for creating the longest railway or highway, for filling the central space of the board with routes, or for completing optional, time-limited in-game goals. Players can also connect special structures to their network, to gain bonus points or trigger special effects like duplicate a route or unlock extra special routes.
One of my favorite parts of the app was surely the tutorial: it explains very well everything you need to get playing straight away!
Railroad Ink Challenge offers a solo mode, where you will try to beat your own best score, and a 100% asynchronous multiplayer mode, to challenge players around the world on any device, thanks to its cross-platform feature. Also, for the most demanding players, the top of the online leaderboards are here to be conquered!
I had the chance to be part of the Beta testers and absolutely loved the game from the get-go! The gameplay is entertaining and at every turn, you will have a lot of interesting choices that keep you focused and never bored. The watercolor-style artwork is attractive and unique, with the main color theme in cool pastel tones, suitable for every user, and easy on the eyes while playing.
The User Interface (UI) of Railroad Ink Challenge really stands out, easy to understand, and pleasing to the eye: you don’t have to worry about where to find commands or spend time thinking about their purpose. Everything is pretty clear, a sign that the developers spent their time designing a high-quality user experience.
Desert, Forest, and other expansions based on the original board game are planned and will be released in the future. They will introduce unique dice and new rules to add even more options to your network-building experience.
I really enjoyed Railroad Ink Challenge. I honestly feel that it will be the next big thing in iOS games and am looking forward to its success!
