How to Use Facebook for App Marketing

Use fan pages effectively

Social Media Marketing is a popular concept that has been used by app marketers for some years now. If you know how to socialize in Facebook and Twitter, you can easily gain exposure to your products. Let us see how we can use Facebook effectively for marketing.

The first thing you must do for marketing your app is developing a good site for it. It plays a significant part in branding. It is better to have a blog attached to your site as a subdomain or as a page of it. If example.com is your site you may have your blog URL as example.compage or page.example.com.

Then create a good page for your app at Facebook. If you want to know what a good page is, please look at the Angry Birds’ Facebook page. If you have blog, this page needs to aggregate it. That means you need to update you blog regularly with the news about you app – its updates, new offers and its achievements in sales like that.

You are good at socializing online. Don’t you? Then, you must be having at least 200 friends in Facebook. Then this trick might disturb them a bit. However, if you are good at app making and they would like you do this. Let me explain…

Whenever you update your app, do a blog post in your site and share it in the facebook. Select a few of your Facebook friends who have huge friend circle in it. Tag them in the post. It will appear in their wall, if they didn’t choose to hide tagged posts from reaching their wall. If it is in their wall, it would reach their friends. Look at this simple calculation.

You tag 10 people in your post. If they have 200 friends each, it would reach at least 2000 people. If it can impress 10 among them they would share them in their wall and your blog post will travel like this to promote your app.

Let me explain the second trick. There are many fan pages in Facebook. Search app liking people in the search box at the top. You can find them with terms like “iPhone apps”, “iPhone fans” and “top apps”. Visit these pages and find whether they allow fans to make wall posts. If it looks like they are allowing it “like” the page and share your blog post there. But, never do this too much. Otherwise, Facebook might ban you from posting links for 15 days or deactivate your account. Don’t show yourself as a spammer.

Limit your link posting activity to two pages per day, but these pages should have al least have 1000 users each. I hope you understand the trick here. Again if your app is good enough, it would reach thousands in a few days time and you will be also ready with a next update and a blog post in the meantime.

When you come to market your products through internet, you may well aware of a thin line that separates marketing from spamming. If you are promoting a good thing, it will be called as marketing. If your products don’t worth your marketing efforts, then you are spamming. So, the key line, you need to develop a good app to do all these things successfully.

  • Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of
that, this is fantastic blog. A fantastic read.

    I’ll certainly be back.

  • Good web site you have here.. It’s hard to find quality writing like yours nowadays.
I seriously appreciate people like you! Take care!!

  • Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and all. However think of if you
added some great photos or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips, this site
could definitely be one of the very best in its niche. Terrific blog!
