Get a reliable virus scanner for your smartphone!
Android is more vulnerable to malware attacks than any other mobile platforms, because it is open source and the users are allowed to download apps from third party sources. Therefore, security is the first concern when it comes to Android mobiles. If you are an Android user and worried about malware attacks, read further.
VIRUSfighter is one of the popular Anti-malware applications available in Google Play today. This app, developed by SPAMfighter detects and removes virus and malware from Android devices. In the homescreen, the Normal View mode features the Scan button. Scanning the device for threats typically takes only a few seconds.
The Advanced View screen displays the status of the device (secure or insecure) and features Scan, Settings and About areas. Secure status means that there is no malware in the device, real-time monitor is enabled, device was recently scanned and the virus definition was recently updated. There is an activity log to list all the updates and scans. These logs can be deleted.
Real-time protection and other things like security advisor, privacy advisor and application manager are available with the Pro version of VIRUSfighter. Settings area helps in customizing the app for enabling the icon in the status bar, boot start and real-time monitor. This app is said to detect more than 9000 threats, but luckily my device doesn’t seem to have any. As it is an anti-virus app, VIRUSfighter can’t be moved to SD card. However, it needs just 1 MB space.
VIRUSfighter is a handy application and a must-have if you don’t have any other anti-virus apps. However, it would be better for you to go for the Pro version as many important features are unavailable in the free app. I would also like to see a few tweaks to the interface to make it look attractive, as mobile users love colorful and pretty buttons.
VIRUSfighter requires Android 2.1 and up. The Pro version of this app costs USD 4.95 for 12 months to cover up to five devices. This app has already crossed 50K downloads in Google Play.
