Play the all-familiar game in a new light!
tic tac phOto by tictacphOto LLC is a tic-tac-toe game you play with pictures, instead of Xs and Os. As your eyebrows furrow and you shake your head, you may be asking, “how do you play tic-tac-toe with pictures?” Well, the answer, my friend, lies in your hands. Simply download tic tac phOto for free, it runs on both iOS and on Android, and see for yourself.
One of the neatest things about this game is that not only are you playing a game, albeit a simple one; but, you end up with a collage of creative imagery that you can save, share or both. Create an account either by email or Facebook and you’re good to go. Once you are in, you can view the Gallery of previous games. Check out what others have captured and submitted in games they have played. This will give you an idea of what’s involved. Many try to mimic the traditional Xs and Os of yore by finding images that look like an X or an O. Others think outside the box and choose self-portraits with different facial expressions. No matter what you choose to use, you are going to play the game by claiming one of the nine game spot with a photo, instead of an X or an O.
The photo can come from a picture you snap on the spot, it can come from the camera roll on your device, or it can be a photo you have already used in a past game. You simply choose the photo, you can rotate it and do some simple edits and then click submit. That’s it. Your opponent is then notified that you’ve completed your turn, so that they can make a go of it.
tic tac phOto is quite simple, if you keep it simple. You can choose to play it for face value, but that could get old, real quick. Another way to jazz it up is to outdo your opponent with something really unique in photo-taking subject matter. To up the ante, you could propose to set time limits on making moves. There is no timer in the app, but who knows, maybe this could become an option later on down the line. Right now, the game is pretty easy going, so you don’t have to rush to take your turn. But, if you start getting bored after a few games, time limits may make you think faster on your feet!
As stated, there are no boundaries or game-playing challenges built into the app as of now. Maybe adding the option of setting a time limit on submissions may make for a more interesting game. But this should just be an option. The underlying theme of this app is to have fun and produce interesting collages for all to enjoy.
tic tac phOto was pretty entertaining in that it let you play that all-familiar game of tic-tac-toe; but, in a new light. It almost teeters on being close to a scavenger hunt, should you decide to cap a category onto your games; and, who doesn’t love a good scavenger hunt, with device in hand and feet on the move. I think it even makes for a great rainy day activity when there’s just nothing else to do.
