Kombie a creative, video-editing application, has now entered the app store. This application has the potential to be the next popular social-media platform. Kombie allows its users to search through their databases of video clips, and thread those clips together with their own personal recordings or videos.
Registering for this application is a very simple process. The process begins with simple prompts from the application to either register your Kombie account through Facebook, or you can use an email address, and manually enter your information. The application also requires you to determine a user name for yourself and your Kombie profile. This user name will be in similar form to a Twitter handle, for example, @yourname. This user name is used for logging in, and is featured on your personal profile on Kombie.
Once you are registered, the tutorial for the application begins. This tutorial will walk you through the main features of the application, and show you all that the application has to offer its users. It is highly recommended that you properly follow the tutorial and read the instructions, otherwise this application may become hard to follow. The process of creating a Kombie video begins on the Home tab, located at the bottom of the screen. Once this tab has been selected, you choose a featured video from one of the Kombie playlists.
These playlists cover a wide variety of themes, including funny videos, featured videos, and hot 100 playlists. The next step to this process is adding your own video. You can record your video on the spot, using the in-app camera. This only requires that you give Kombie permission to use your microphone and camera, while in the application. Once those permissions have been granted, a user has full access to all the features of the Kombie application. Only the video clip the user has recorded can be altered. This footage can be altered using the different tools on the Kombie app.
The first tool that can be used is a small scissor icon. Once you have clicked on this icon, you can trim and cut certain parts from your personal footage. Another element to the Kombie editing feature is the paint bucket icon. Once you have clicked on this icon, you can completely change the coloration of your video to add a cool effect. Once the footage has been edited how you want it, you click the small Kombie logo in the top, right-hand corner of the page. This allows you to preview your Kombie video, from the perspective of all outside viewers.
From this page you can also share your creation to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram by using one of the buttons. You can also share it to other people or social media accounts by hitting the share button (box with an upward pointing arrow.) You can also save your creation to your IOS device from this tab. When finished, your creation will be shared to any social media you have selected, and it will also be featured on your Kombie profile.
Other Kombie users will be able to view your creations on your page, and if your video gets enough views, you may end up on the Inspirations tab. One change, is that it needs to be easier to understand. The interface is clean and simple, but when it is time to share your creation to your Kombie profile, the process becomes foggy and hard to understand.
This application has a very cool concept. I believe that it has the potential to be great, but a few changes must be made first before this happens.

Happy blog-aversary! Thanks for this post. Exercise is such a struggle for me, surprisingly. In the summer, we bike or walk everywhere (with a 5 year old on my back, I might add…), out of necessity. And pulling in the winches is sometimes great strength training! But, I find it so hard to fit exercise in during the school year, and I hate going out in the cold winter weather! I love this chapter, too! I think it is by far the strongest chapter yet, and I think it is probably one of the most well-known scenes in the Hobbit. Seriously, Gollum is so intensely creepy– and yet he's also a more complex kind of 'villain', as you get those little innocent snippets of his life story (as he's considering eating Bilbo O.O). Honestly, this review frightened me at first. I wasn't sure if Mark actually liked the chapter, or if he was being sarcastic. But yeah, Bilbo is a badass of a very logical and non-murderous variety.
