Informant 5 app

Informant 5 – Organized Efficiency Workhorse

If you are looking for an app that keeps you organized without adding extra work to your already busy life, then look no further than Informant 5. There are tons of apps out there that work as great organizers and planners, but sometimes they result in more work for you, which is the exact opposite of what you are using the organizer for.

Informant 5 combines the organization of a calendar with planning tools to create notes and tasks, rolling it all together with email accessibility allow you to directly get the word out from within your planning tool.

The download is for free, but the app comes with several in-app purchases which gives you access to a Premium version, that is chock full of functionality.

That is not to say that as is, the app is lacking in anything monumental. The free version is completely functional and helpful, but if you need connectivity to other apps, then Premium is required. We’ll revisit the connectivity part later when we dive into details on the app.

Instantaneously after downloading Informant 5, you will be impressed with the layout and the coloring. I know most people could care less about coloring in an app, but this app makes smart use of it to help you organize effortlessly.

The entire app is set on a black background. The colors allow you to “code” your tasks, so it’s easy to see the different categories of work items you have, helping you prioritize using different criteria. The black background is easy on the eyes and makes all other items in the app “pop,” so they are all easy to find and get to.

The basic version, offered at no cost, offers all the features you could possible neat in an organizer/planner.  You get the calendar, which is supported by iCalendar. What you won’t get is support for Tasks, Notes, Contacts, and no Connection Bundles.

If you choose to sign up for a subscription, which highly recommend, you get the following:

  • Full Calendar Support – add Tasks, Notes, link and add Contacts, connectivity to Apple Events and Reminders
  • Free Updates – get the latest version of the app when it comes out
  • Connect Bundle – Informant 5 seamlessly connects to and syncs with email and Weather apps

There are different levels of subscriptions, ranging from $2.99/mo for 30 days to $24.99/year. Should you cancel your subscription, you keep the full app minus the Connect Bundle.

A twist to subscriptions, you can pretend like you own the app by signing up for the $24.99/year subscription and immediately turning Auto-Review OFF. The downside to this is that after one year, you will not have the Connect Bundle.

What most impressed me was the ability to get to emails from within the app. It made my life so much easier. No more switching between apps to get one task done. Everything you need access to can be done from Informant 5.

What I would like to see in future updates is the ability to print documents directly from within the app. Connectivity to an app that prints or just adding the function to the app would be great.

Informant 5 has made great strides in improvements, learning from users what works and what doesn’t, offering an app that brings it all together in a way that makes sense to each individual that uses it.
