However iOS developers will earn more
According to a recent research Android will surpass the App Store in application downloads for the first time.
Ovum, a research firm, claims Android to gain 8.1 billion app downloads this year, while App Store getting 6 billion downloads. The rise of Android downloads may be the result of other application stores such as those at GetJar and Amazon.
It estimates that Android would have served 21.8 billion downloads leaving second place to the App Store (11.6 billion downloads) by 2016. However, App Store will be generating US $2.86 billion in app revenue in the next five years while all Android stores combined will grab just US $1.5 billion.
As downloading apps from third party App Stores posing a significant malware threat, Lookout had already warned that Android users are 2.5 times more likely to encounter malware than just six months ago. If you are an Android user, have a look at this Lookout graphics.
