Viewpoints The Blue Jackal and the Lion – An Interactive Story

A New twist to the old tale!

The Blue Jackal and the Lion logoWhen I was a kid, I used to read a lot of story books. They got me into the world of lions, tigers, rabbits and other such animals. Panchatantra was, of course, one of my favorites. There are stories and inside stories and there are some interesting morals to learn at the end. However, the habit of reading books has been slowly vanishing among the kids now. If you have kids who hate reading, this review would help you teach some lessons.

Viewpoints: The Blue Jackal and the Lion is an iPad version of the famous blue jackal tale of Panchatantra (remember the one that fell into washer man blue). This app takes the art of story telling to a new level with some amazing artworks and the element of interactivity. It would certainly make reading a pleasure. Let me explain how it works.

The Blue Jackal and the Lion

This app presents the story of blue jackal from the perspectives of the jackal and the lion. Intermittently, this it poses questions like “Why did I make myself a king” and “How did I use my power?” to make the users think. There are arrows at the bottom and the ‘Home’ icon at the top to facilitate easy navigation. The narration audio helps the kids who are not old enough to read. However, users can readily disable this audio and also the text.

The Blue Jackal and the Lion is an iPad app compatible with iOS 3.2 or later. As this app is full of artworks, it is a bit bulky (118 MB) and it takes time to download. It was launched only a few weeks ago but looks perfect for a first version. If you have kids at home, you would really need this app in your iPad. You can get this app for USD 0.99.
